Advanced Wound Center • (276) 596-6600
An outpatient clinic of the hospital which specializes in treating patients with chronic, slow or non-healing wounds. The center provides aggressive state-of-the-art treatment and evidence based protocols to ensure patient’s wounds heal quickly. The Advanced Wound Center will help patients with the following wounds: diabetic, pressure ulcers, non-healing surgical, complex soft tissue, traumatic and infected wounds. Additionally, the center will use two hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers to provide wound treatment for patients with non-healing wounds. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy provides 100 percent oxygen under pressure in a single person chamber which has shown to increase healing by an average of 25 percent, according to research studies. Cancer Care Services
We provide a full range of diagnostic, therapeutic, support and rehabilitative services to cancer patients and their families. Our advanced technology includes a state-of-the-art image-guided IMRT linear accelerator, the leading edge in the fight against cancer. Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation is a service provided by Clinch Valley Medical Center for individuals with heart disease and pulmonary disease. Our team of professionals will help you recover faster and return to a healthier lifestyle. Our program will help you: become physically stronger, reduce your risks of heart disease, cope with feelings of fear or apprehension, learn to recognize and deal with stress, understand the medications you take and exercise for life. Chaplain (Pastoral Care)
Being sick or injured can be frightening and emotionally draining. In addition to your medical care, our hospital makes available emotional and spiritual care for you and your loved ones. Your chaplain is available to listen, to comfort, and to help you draw upon your religious or spiritual strength. Chaplains are available for emergencies at any time. Clinch Valley Medical Center chaplains are assigned to every inpatient area of the hospital, and a chaplain is on duty in the hospital 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week. Chaplains can visit you or help you contact your faith group. To reach a chaplain, please call 276-596-6588. If the chaplain is out they may be paged through the hospital operator by dialing "0" on your hospital phone. The nursing staff can also help you call for a chaplain. The Interfaith Chapel at the hospital is located on the 3rd floor (Room 300) of the hospital and is open continuously for meditation. The Chapel is an environment of calm, available for personal meditation or small group consultation. Prayer requests may be left there for our chaplain. Bibles, devotional guides and other supportive care resources are also available in the chapel.
Clinch Valley Medical Center provides comprehensive testing and imaging services to patients and physicians throughout Southwest Virginia for the highest level of accuracy in diagnosis and treatment. Our full-service inpatient and outpatient diagnostic facility provides convenient, personalized and comfortable care. Our patients also benefit from the latest technology and our board-certified radiologist’s provide you and your physician with prompt, accurate results. Our diagnostic tools include: MRI, 64-Slice CT Scan, Digital Mammography, Stereotactic Breast Core Biopsies, DEXA (osteoporosis screening), Interventional Angiogram, Ultrasound/Vascular Imaging, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Testing/Cardiac Stress Testing/PET Imaging.
The Emergency Department is a fully functional emergency services provider with physician and nursing coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department is equipped to handle patients brought by private car, ambulance or MedFlight, with minor illness or injury to critically acute medical or trauma conditions. Patients are treated through a triage system that categorizes their emergency.
Heart & Vascular Services
Clinch Valley Heart & Vascular Institute provides a comprehensive and effective approach to the diagnosis and treatment of simple and complex coronary and vascular conditions. The Institute has integrated Clinch Valley Medical Center’s specialists in cardiology, interventional cardiology, vascular surgery and interventional radiology to provide an extraordinary level of expertise and experience to patients and physicians alike. The Institute’s multidisciplinary team of physicians plays leading roles in the development of diagnostic, clinical and surgical techniques and technology for treating coronary artery and peripheral vascular disease.
Intensive Care Unit
The Intensive and Critical Care Unit (ICU/CCU) is for patients who require more focused nursing care while recovering from a major surgery, injury, or critical illness.

Clinch Valley Medical Center is now able to provide patients ready access to a variety of diagnostic and non-surgical treatments for the heart, including angioplasty and stenting.
Our CAP-certified laboratory provides comprehensive services in the disciplines of chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, blood band and pathology. Each section is well-equipped with the most modern equipment and operated by certified medical technologists and technicians. This non-invasive procedure "shatters" kidney stones without surgery. Instead, shockwaves break the stone into sand-like particles that pass easily from the body.
All traditional obstetrical services are provided from labor and delivery to Cesarean births and postpartum care of both mother and infant. Our comfortably-furnished labor & delivery rooms help keep the occasion a family affair.
Pulmonary Medicine/ Critical Care
For patients with lung disease, breathing without effort is often impossible. Sometimes lung disease can be so severe that it affects your independence – even your quality of life. That’s why the broad-based inpatient and outpatient services offered at Clinch Valley Medical Center can provide you a breath of hope. Here, we diagnose and treat medical conditions of the lungs, including: asthma, black lung, COPD, emphysema, interstitial lung diseases and pneumonia.
Anyone who has ever needed rehabilitation for a serious injury or illness will tell you, "It's hard work." Our dedicated staff members motivate and encourage patients to reach new heights of recovery each day. Among the inpatient services we offer are physical and occupational therapy, speech language pathology, social work and rehabilitative nursing.
Our out-patient Rehabilitation services include acquatic therapy and sports medicine as well as back, neck and orthopedic care. Another aspect of out-patient rehabilitation is Southwest Virginia Pediatric Rehabilitation for children from birth through age 21. Skilled Nursing Unit
This inpatient program provides the transition from the acute care stay to discharge by offering skilled and rehabilitative services focusing on helping patients achieve their highest level of physical, mental and social well-being.
Registered polysomnographers perform sleep studies in our two-bed sleep lab to identify serious health problems such as obstructive sleep apnea. An out-patient full night sleep study or an in-patient sleep screen can be the first step in effective treatment. For faster diagnosis and treatment, studies are read on-site by a physician Board Certified in Sleep Medicine. Our inpatient and outpatient surgery suites include specialized orthopedic and cystology rooms. The Day Surgery department has its own designated recovery area and family waiting room.
